Arafat's Death

I cannot believe the insensitive treatment of the death of Yasser Arafat. If there is a time for healing, for those that sincerely want it, it would be now. To call a man's death an 'opportunity' or an 'opening' is to disrespect his followers.

Many want to blame the plight of the Palestinians on Arafat's stubborness and evil. Others could argue, that he fought for his people, and they would be worse off in the long run without him.

So in judging the man's life, politics plays a huge role. One might hope that since he is now dead, those that blame him the most, would quietly breathe a sigh of relief and then reach out to his followers to begin a reconciliation process. Instead the first act is to rub salt in their wounds by treating their hero's death in a disrepectful manner. Really makes one wonder if peace is the goal, or if it more of a smokescreen.
